Deoghar, Sep 13 (PTI) Four people, including two brothers, were arrested in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district for allegedly duping people by sending fake links of government schemes and posing as customer care executives, police said on Sunday.
The arrests were made from the Amba-Tila forest area within Karown police station area on Saturday, they said.
“We arrested four persons, including two brothers, for defrauding common people, posing as fake customer care representatives and government officials, and making phone calls to dupe people with promises of cashback or benefits under the PM Kisan Yojana,” Deoghar SP Praveen Pushkar said.
Police seized nine mobile phones and 11 fake SIM cards from their possession, he said.
The accused have been identified as Kanhaiya Kumar Das (18) and his elder brother Sameer Kumar Das (19), Md Saleem Ansari (26), and Rooplal Poddar (29). All residents of different parts of the district, another official said.
