3 held for car stunts near Gurugram market

Gurugram, Aug 20 (PTI) Three people have been arrested for allegedly performing dangerous stunts on Thar vehicle and driving negligently in Sector-56 area here after a purported video of the incident surfaced on social media, police said on Thursday.

The SUV used in the alleged stunts was recovered by the police, they said.

According to the police, on Wednesday, police took suo motu cognisance of a video circulating on social media in which youths were seen performing dangerous stunts with a Mahindra Thar at HUDA Market Parking, Sector-56, Gurugram. A case was registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of law at Police Station Sector-56.

The accused were identified as Saksham (19), Sachin (21) from Gurugram and Ankit Sharma (21) who hails from Jharkhand, police said.

“During police interrogation, it was revealed that accused Saksham was driving the car negligently, Sachin was hanging from the car and Ankit recorded the video of the stunts. We have recovered one Mahindra Thar car used in the incident from the accused.

“Gurugram Police appeals to all citizens to drive in a safe, responsible and disciplined manner and ensure their own safety as well as the safety of other road users,” said a spokesperson of Gurugram Police.

In the video that surfaced online, a young man driving the SUV carrying out car drifts, while another person is seen hanging from the vehicle’s window. Several motorists moved their vehicles out of the parking area in fear, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the youths intensified their stunts when people began recording them.

The video is said to be two days old but is being widely circulated on social media. Locals say that such stunts taking place openly are a cause for concern, they said. PTI COR SKY SKY
