Hamirpur, Aug 5 (PTI) Three people were killed and 25 others injured when a Uttar Pradesh roadways bus collided head-on with a diesel tanker on National Highway-34 here on Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred near Kundara village in the Sumerpur police station area when the Mahoba depot bus was travelling from Hamirpur to Mahoba and rammed into an oncoming diesel tanker.
According to police, the impact of the collision was so severe that the bus driver, identified as Nisar, and the tanker driver died on the spot.
Twenty-two passengers travelling in the bus sustained injuries, one of whom later succumbed during treatment, taking the death toll to three.
The bus also hit a car parked nearby after the collision, injuring four occupants of the vehicle, police said.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Three critically injured persons are being referred to Kanpur for advanced medical care, Sumerpur Station House Officer Pawan Patel said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination after completion of legal formalities, he added. PTI COR CDN APL APL
