Jammu, Aug 1 (PTI) Two wives of a notorious drug peddler were arrested along with 100 grams of heroin in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.
The women were proceeding towards Vijaypur when they were intercepted and searched by a police party during an anti-drug peddling operation, resulting in the recovery of the contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesperson said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Noor Jan and Noor Jahan. Both are wives of alleged drug peddler Mohd Yaqoob alias “Yooqa”, a resident of Rakh Barotian village. He is presently residing in Rahya village of Vijaypur.
A case under various sections of the NDPS Act was registered against the arrested women at Police Station Vijaypur, and an investigation was underway, the spokesperson said.
Yaqoob is involved in 17 cases under the NDPS Act and other criminal offences registered at various police stations in the districts of Jammu, Samba and Reasi. PTI TAS TAS AMJ AMJ
