Moradabad (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) While riding a motorcycle to attend a wedding, three helmetless men met with a tragic accident crossing a highway through a narrow divider opening when a speeding light commercial vehicle struck them, killing two and injuring one, police said on Friday.
Police said the accident took place around 10 pm on Thursday near Greenwood Farm House in Bilari town, and the deceased were identified as Nem Singh (50) and Ajab Singh (26), both residents of Behta Khas village in neighbouring Sambhal district.
They said the injured, Avdhesh Singh (45), was referred to the district hospital in Moradabad after his condition deteriorated.
According to police, the three were riding a single motorcycle to attend a wedding at Narayan Farm House in Sahaspur village. Eyewitnesses said none of them wore a helmet and they suffered severe head injuries in the collision.
Police said the vehicle’s driver fled the scene after abandoning it and the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Police said a case will be registered against the absconding driver after receiving a complaint from the victims’ family members and legal action will be initiated. PTI COR CDN ASD
