Pratapgarh (UP), May 15 (PTI) Two devotees, including a teenage girl, were killed and four others injured after a speeding car crashed into a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district on Friday afternoon, police said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Brijanandan Rai said the accident took place near Hulasgarh Bazaar under the Maheshganj police station area, around 50 kilometres from the district headquarters.
The victims, identified as Antima Gautam (18), Richa Gautam (17), Shakti Gautam (20), Mehak (18), Sonali (11) and Aman alias Annu Gautam (20), all residents of Rajgarh under Nagar Kotwali police station limits, were travelling in a car to visit Mangarh Dham.
The police said the car rammed into the tree, killing Richa Gautam and Aman Gautam on the spot, while the others sustained injuries.
The car was being driven by Sheru Yadav, who escaped unhurt, the police said.
All the injured were taken to the Maheshganj Community Health Centre and later referred to the Pratapgarh Medical College after primary treatment. PTI COR KIS MNK MNK
