Patna/Samastipur, May 28 (PTI) At least two persons died and five others went missing after a boat capsized in Bihar’s Samastipur district on Thursday morning, officials said.
The incident took place around 5.45 am when they were returning from Sultanpur Diara in Mohiuddinnagar block of the district.
The boat carrying 14 people capsized due to strong winds, a statement issued by the Patna district administration said.
Teams from Samastipur and Patna district administrations are jointly carrying out rescue operations, it said.
Seven people have been rescued, while the bodies of two persons were recovered during the operation, the statement said.
Rescue efforts are ongoing for five missing people, it said.
