Thane, Jun 23 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in Maharashtra’s Thane city after two of her friends leaked her private photos and videos on social media, police said on Tuesday.
A case under section 108 (abetment of suicide) has been registered against two boys, aged 17 and 18 years, in connection with the incident that occurred on June 18, an official said.
The minor girl ended her life under extreme duress by hanging herself from the ceiling in her house on the evening of June 18, he said.
The official said a probe revealed that the victim had captured some pictures and videos of herself on the mobile phone of one of the accused boys. The accused then went on to leak these on social media posts.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far, and a further probe into the crime is underway, he added. PTI COR ARU
