13 killed in Palghar highway crash, Maharashtra CM announces Rs 5 lakh aid for victims’ families

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the death of 13 persons in an accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway in Palghar district on Monday and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

An Eicher tempo packed with more than 50 passengers heading for an engagement ceremony collided with a speeding container truck near Dhaniwari village under Dahanu taluka at around 4 pm.

In a statement, Fadnavis said the accident had resulted in the death of 13 persons, while around 20 were injured.
