Lawyers of Supreme Court Bar Association & a group of mostly SC judges took part in an annual friendly cricket match Sunday. ThePrint's Praveen Jain was there to catch the action.
New Delhi: As the balmy Sunday morning gave way to an increasingly hot day, lawyers of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and a group of mostly Supreme Court judges were engaged in a clash far removed from their usual court battle.
Here, in the annual friendly T-20 cricket match, played at Modern School Barakhamba Road Sunday, it was their bats that argued their case.
The match was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana, who though he did not play the match, hit three balls to kick off the game. These were, however, not part of the actual overs.
The toss was won by the CJI XI, who opted to bat and put up an impressive score of 160 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. The team was captained by Justice L. Nageswara Rao.
The lawyers (SCBA), captained by a senior advocate Vikas Singh, failed to match the score and were all out for only 88 runs in 12.4 overs.
The player of the match was N. Anand Venkatesh, who scored 34 runs and took three wickets, helping the judges score a 72-run victory over the lawyers.
