New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament, which started Monday and will continue until 13 December, kicked off with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the media outside Parliament premises.
“This is the 250th session of the Rajya Sabha. During this session on November 26, there is Constitution Day, when our Constitution completes 70 years. The Constitution inculcates the unity, integrity, diversity and beauty of the country and is a driving force for the country,” said PM Modi.
Newly-elected DMK MP Kathir Anand was in good spirits, along with fellow Don Bosco School alumni Congress MP Karti Chidambaram and DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran.
BJP MP Kirron Kher and V.K Singh shared a laugh outside Parliament. Kher, a Chandigarh MP, recently expressed concern over poor air quality in that city at a human rights conference held at Panjab University.
Cabinet Minister Prakash Javadekar, who holds the environment portfolio, made a statement about clean energy by driving his electric vehicle to Parliament.
Cabinet and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who recently came under fire for his response to the WhatsApp snooping case, was also present along with Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Gautam Gambhir, a former cricketer and the newly-elected MP from East Delhi, was also present. Gambhir was criticised last week by the Aam Aadmi Party after a photo of him eating jalebis instead of attending an parliamentary meeting on air pollution went viral.
