New Delhi: Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived in India Thursday on his first overseas tour after his election win this month. He will be India for two days.

Rajapaksa, a member of the country’s powerful Rajapaksa clan, was received by PM Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan Friday.

Speaking to reporters later, Rajapaksa said he would strive to take his country’s bilateral relationship with India to a “very high level”. His expectation from this visit, he added, was very high.
