Viral images of ‘Jio’ bags of wheat trigger boycott call on Twitter, but Reliance logo is fake

Twitter users share photos of bags of wheat bearing Reliance Jio name, comment on how farmers' protest is justified. However, company is strictly a digital arm of Reliance Group.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing farmers’ protest against the three contentious agriculture laws at Delhi borders, images of wheat packets under the brand name Jio have gone viral on social media.

One image on Facebook has been shared over 3,200 times. The images have also been tweeted and retweeted by several users, including the social media president of the National Students’ Union of India, Manoj Lubana.

Many others have similarly shared the images.

One user commented saying the government has sold its “soul & conscience to capitalists”. The images have also been shared with the hashtag #BoycottRelianceproducts.

Fact check

ThePrint’s fact checker has found that the images being circulated are fake. The font on the logo of the viral images is different from the one on Jio’s website.

According to the Reliance Industries’ website, Jio is only a digital venture focused on “creating a massive digital ecosystem for a billion Indians with domain expertise across business verticals in the platform company”.

Reliance Retail is the umbrella retail initiative of the group. In the food and groceries sector, it operates Reliance Fresh, Reliance Smart and Reliance Market stores. Jio is strictly in the Reliance Digital category and operates through Reliance Digital Express Mini stores and Jio stores. Jio does not produce food and grocery products, says the website.

  1. Wah. We are going to be doomed with people like these. They fools are more stupid than antivaxxers and flat earthers. These communists and khangress supported with IQ less than a rock have absolutely no problem when foreign companies make money through the indian public but when homegrown companies like reliance and Adani are getting bigger these people start shouting. No wonder why we couldn’t even beat china in terms of development even when we were ahead. People of India always complain of brain drain but never understand the reason that India sucks in the first place due to extreme levels of stupidity and sheep mentality of especially these Congress supporters. I saw some one in the comment section asking “then what is jiomart”. Oof….really feel to leave this country after I complete my bachelor’s better to stay abroad than drain sweat and money to start a company here. Height of foolishness has even broke the world record of Burj Khalifa tbh. I would like to ask those same people when you buy from Amazon pantry is the did packet labelled “Amazon rice”???? Goddamn, I get it how gullible these fools are. This is the sole reason why Congress still exists. I bet my soul that even if a single “common” farmer is asked what he/she knows about the farm laws, they would not be even able to utter a single word! They would not be knowing shit. The only counter argument they would give is the Ambani and Adani will take their lands.honestly I advice my fellow juniours to leave this country and settle abroad. I feel sad for modiji also how much he actually struggles to make India a better place which is already filled with stinking brainless pigs and sheeps!

  2. Shri Jio Agro Food Products Private Limited has two directors – Kamal Ramanlal Bakliwal and Karan Prakash Bakliwal.

The registered office of Shri Jio Agro Food Products Private Limited is at 204,2ND FLOOR,RAJDEEP BUILDING TARA TEMPLE LANE, OFF LAMINGTON ROAD, MUMBAI, Mumbai City, Maharashtra.

  3. Farmer aandolan me Jio ka kya lenadena ?
Aandolan me Khalistan samrthan me nare kyu?
Sahinbaug ke dangai ko riha karane ki mang kyu ?
NRC CAA ka kya lena dena ?
Naxsal ko jail mukt karane ka kya lena dena?
Ye farmer aandolan ek bahana he sahinbaug jo dohrana he

  4. What a marketing, this proves that there are some group of people planning something bad for corporate house. Donot forget JIO has revolutionized our society. Corporate are for our development and not our enemy.

  5. What is Flipkart, Amazon.? People are bent on destroying Indian economy. There is too much democracy in India. First of all all terrorists, naxals must be taken care of.

  6. This is enemy countries and stupid politicians spreads fake news to weaken Indian companies and economy. Rahul Gandhi did the same thing on Rafael and Anil Ambani before election. Wasn’t the deal fair and needed for the country. #^*%#^% Congress and foreign owned Airtel that uses Chinese hardware.

  7. Hahaha….
This article is clearly defending the criny capitalists and their master…
    All facts and truths ignored…

  8. Our country’s problems are because of extreme lack of intelligence in general public. People want to eat substandard PDS grains leading to cancer but not quality grains procured by private sector, more worryingly they don’t want others to get healthy grains as well. No wonder intelligent people are leaving India.

  9. Yesterday someone posted a line on LinkedIn with a photo of Olas founder Agarwal with a line that if you want to be successful in a start up then forget family and don’t let family in and stay away from family.
This post had about 200 comments.

I checked for verification, but did not find any such comment.
What I am saying is that do not trust everything that comes on internet. I am sure many of us have consumed enough falsities like this.
Similarly something was posted with a picture of Ratan Tata on it. While it was something good, but Mr Tata denined having said anything like that.
I get calls from fake recruiters stating that Incan get any job in Maruti or Hyundai or Unilever or Airtel with a poster advertisement. Someone posted Fixed Deposit Intrest rates by SBI at 8% in November.
Be careful while trusting any source.
Common people like us must be utmost careful.

  10. Jio doesn’t produce groceries, but it has a grocery retail sector called JioMart. So stop taking reliance’s money and start posting some true stories. Where are your journalism ethics?

    • Love the “shoot yourself in the foot” mentality of a lot of people in their own country. All these years , no one ever had a problem with Amazon pantry. But come Jio or see some Indian make big bucks, and the crab mentality kicks in. No cure for such crab souls.

    • Accha….to fir to TATA, amazon,Microsoft, google sari company ko bhaga do….fir bethe rahna khet me berojgaro ki tarah…aur comment karte rahna ki sab ambani ko de diya..ab hamare paas kaam karne ko kuch nahi bach…
