A closer look at the video shows that except for its green colour, the flag does not bear the crescent moon or the star symbols of the Pakistan’s national flag.

New Delhi: A video claiming that a Pakistani flag was waved at a Congress rally in Churi village in Rajasthan is doing the rounds on social media. However, the flag in question isn’t Pakistan’s national flag.

The video has been shared widely on Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp since Tuesday, when the results of the five assembly elections were declared.

The Congress has won 99 out of 199 seats in Rajasthan and is set to form government in the state after five years.

The person filming the video can be seen shouting, “Look closely, how Pakistan’s flag is being waved at a Congress rally… this is our own fault… this is no other place than Churi.

“I am ashamed of calling these people Indians. Have some shame… you’re the ones who voted for them right?” the man added.

However, a closer look at the video reveals that except for its green colour, the flag does not bear the crescent moon or the star symbols of Pakistan’s national flag.

Instead, it has two white stripes on either side. The one on the left side has the illustration of Mecca, while the stripe on the right has the image of Kaaba — the two of the holiest places in Islam. There is also something written in Urdu at the centre of the flag, which is illegible.

The image with this false claim has been widely shared on Whatsapp, even after the election results came out. Some Twitter users even said that “this is what happened when @INCIndia won in Rajasthan….The 1st thing which was openly displayed was Pakistan Flag with Islamic Write-ups…”
