New Delhi: BJP spokesperson Sarika Jain Monday shared a video that appeared to be CCTV footage showing a group of men damaging cars in an unidentified area. Jain posted the clip on Twitter claiming that it was from Kolkata and the perpetrators were Muslims who wanted to break their fast or ‘iftar’ on the road.
“The condition of Bengal is becoming similar to Pakistan,” she wrote.
Jain also said it won’t be long before similar situations begin taking place in other parts of the country. She also alleged that in the past 70 years, Hindus have become a “minority in eight states”.
The video evoked strong reactions from her Twitter followers, with some users commenting that it was time to find a “permanent solution” to this “problem”, while others mockingly described the mob to be “peaceful”.

Many users also blamed the Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal government for the incident. “Anarchy in West Bengal may not be controlled later on by Shree Amit Shah ji if you don’t act now,” one user wrote.
The video was also shared by several other Twitter users with claims that it was from Kolkata.

Fact Check
A background check on the video has revealed that it was a four-year-old clip from Switzerland. According to Swiss media, the incident was the result of a brawl near the St Jakob Stadium in Basel.
Reports published in May 2018 had also stated that violent clashes erupted between fans supporting two rival football teams — FC Luzern and FC Basel.
The video had gone viral on social media at that time and was shared by thousands of people, according to Swiss daily, 20 minuten.
Incidentally, Ramzan does not start before April 2 this year.
