New Delhi: In the past month, several states that had high active case numbers such as Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, have reported a significant decline in their caseloads.
India’s total number of active cases stands at 4,46,952. So far, 88,47,600 people have recovered from the virus and 1,37,139 people have succumbed to it.
Daily cases
In the last 24 hours, 38,772 people were found positive for Covid-19. Ten states and Union Territories accounted for 78.31 per cent of the new cases reported.
Active cases
India’s active caseload reached 4,46,952 cases Monday. The present active cases account for 4.74 per cent of India’s total positive cases.
Number of deaths
In the last 24 hours, 443 case fatalities were reported in India and 10 states and UTs accounted for 78.56 per cent of them.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, India’s total case fatalities have reached 1,37,139.
Mortality rate
Punjab continued to record the highest case fatality rate in India at 3.2 per cent. This was followed by Maharashtra at 2.6 per cent and Sikkim at 2.2 per cent.
India’s average case fatality rate has dipped to 1.45 per cent. On Friday, the case fatality rate recorded was 1.5 per cent.
Daily tests
A total of 8,76,173 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. The total number of samples collected for testing, since the beginning of the pandemic, crossed the 14 crore mark Monday.
Positivity rate
India’s positivity rate, in the past 24 hours, stood at 4.42 per cent — a slight increase from Friday’s rate. This increase can be attributed to the dip in testing over the weekend.
Recovered cases
In the last 24 hours, 6,325 people recovered from Covid-19 in India. The total number of recoveries since the pandemic reached 88,47,600 in the last 24 hours. India’s recovery rate stood at 93.81 per cent.
Total cases
India has recorded a total of 94,31,691 cases of Covid-19, since the beginning of the pandemic. It has the second-highest number of cases in the world after the US.
States with highest active cases
Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of active cases in India at 90,997. The number of deaths reported in the state stands at 47,071. In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 5,544 cases.
Kerala has the second-highest number of active cases, at 64,601, and has reported 2,224 deaths. In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 5,643 cases, which is the highest number of cases reported in a day.
Delhi has recorded the third-highest number of active cases at 35,091. So far, 9,066 deaths have been reported in the national capital. In the last 24 hours, 4,906 people tested positive for Covid-19.
Rajasthan has recorded 28,758 active cases and 2,292 deaths. It reported 2,581 cases in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh reported 1,974 positive cases. The state has recorded 24,575 active cases and 7,742 deaths in total, so far.
