New Delhi: India continues to dominate Pakistan’s discourse when it comes to Google searches. And the person who Pakistanis searched for the most in 2024 is Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.
Google’s ‘Year in Search 2024’ gave a sneak peek into where Pakistanis’ interests truly lie—India. They wanted to know about Bigg Boss Season 17, Mirzapur Season 3’s plot and Netflix show Heeramandi. Bollywood movies such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, 12th Fail, Animal, Stree 2, and Dunki were also among the most searched.
Amid all of this, one telling aspect of the Google search trends was the subcontinent’s obsession with cricket—both nations searched for the ICC T20 World Cup with equal fervour, with top matchups like Pakistan vs India emerging as most-searched.
Searches for key matchups, such as Pakistan’s games against India, England, and Australia, remained consistently high.
No Pakistani politician or entertainment personality made it to the top trending searches in the country.

What Pakistan searched for
But while India dominates the cultural zeitgeist in Pakistan, the latter remains largely off the radar in India’s search habits.
Indian search trends did not have any Pakistani themes or people. Both countries had similar search trends in cricket and Bollywood, with Stree 2, 12th Fail, Heeramandi and Mirzapur being the common searches, among others.
Sports dominated Pakistan’s Google search. Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistani javelin thrower, emerged as the most searched sports personality after winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a historic throw of 92.97 metres. This victory not only earned Pakistan its first Olympic gold in 40 years but also set a new Olympic record.
Following Nadeem, Pakistani cricketer Sajid Khan ranked second, based on his standout performance in the Test series win against England, where he was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series. Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, who garnered attention after his marriage to actress Sana Javed, rounded out the top three.
Pakistanis also turned to Google for everything from banana bread and creamy pasta to preserving flowers and parenting tips, especially how to teach four-year-olds to share.
The two drama series that dominated the Pakistani chatter, Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, also featured on the trending search list. Both shows had their finale episodes screened in cinemas across Pakistan.
French-Iranian photojournalist Abbas Attar, and Lebanese-American poet and essayist Etel Adnan were also among the people Pakistanis searched the most.
