New Delhi: Pakistani television channel Hum TV is in a soup for showing incest in the latest episode of its drama Juda Huway Kuch Is Tarha. The teaser of the episode that was aired on 13 September showed the lead pair in the serial, who were married, as foster siblings.

The teaser has brought a storm on Pakistani social media — of outrage and memes. The show was the buzz word across social media platforms in the country.
A Pakistani reacted saying, “WTFFFFF IS HAPPENING IN THIS COUNTRY??!”. Another user said that this (portrayal of incest) had “crossed all limits”.
ohh bhaie #Udaari faced backlash & ban for just talking about rape, domestic abuse & inclusion of transgender. But it's okay to air a drama on incest – brother knocking the sister up & everyone's okay with it?

“I want to burn my eyes for just watching the promo”, said another user.
They literally made a show about incest??????? I want to burn my eyes for just watching the promo. How is TikTok a bigger threat to society than Hum TV? https://t.co/QzkewlIp9c

A user called it a cheaper version of Game of Thrones — “desi version” of GoT.

Many also invoked Islam and questioned Imran Khan on the content being shown on television and demanded that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) stop such shows immediately. Some questioned if the regulatory body was asleep.
WTF did I just see??😳😳
Pakistan electronic
media regulatory authority@reportpemra is the regulatory board sleeping or what ??? Pull this content off the air / ban #JudaHuayKuchIsTarah
&Take some strict actions against @Humtvnetwork for airing this kinda content .

How pathetic it is to see Hum tv normalising such sensitive things being seen on tv. Incest is illicit and is prohibited in Islam but it is aired on tv shamelessly in an Islamic republic.

If people were getting outraged on Twitter, then Instagram had memes doing the rounds.
Using the “razai bhai-behen” dialogue from the episode, a user recreated the entire teaser using a blanket. The meme created by comedian Ali Gul Pir has gone viral since then and shared by multiple handles.
This, however, is not the first time that Hum TV has been in the eye of a storm for showing incest. In 2016, PEMRA had issued a show cause notice to the channel for another serial — Udaari. In one of the episodes, an aunt’s husband was shown luring his underprivileged niece to have a sexual relationship with him. Another episode of the TV soap had shown the same character enticing his minor stepdaughter.
Juda Huway Kuch Is Tarha has been written by Khalil-ur-Rehman who has also penned other dramas such as Pyarey Afzal, Sadqay Tumhare. Meray Paas Tum Ho and the movie, Kaaf Kangana.
