New Delhi: Former Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament (MP), Priyanka Chaturvedi, has posted a reel-explainer talking about the viral Ravi Kishan memes. The “straight talk reel” is her attempt to understand and explain Gen Z meme culture.
BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan has become an unlikely Gen Z meme sensation, with his old interviews and quirky one-liners taking over Instagram. Scroll through every third Instagram reel, and you’ll likely see him there.
“If you haven’t even seen a Ravi Kishan reel telling you how to live your life today, my question to you is, are you even on the internet?” Chaturvedi began in the reel, posted on Instagram on 12 August.
Describing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Gorakhpur as a “veteran actor and colleague in the Parliament,” she calls him the absolute king of Gen-Z meme culture.
“We are talking about pure internet madness. From corporate brands to government handles like the Delhi Police – everyone wants to ride, or is riding, the Ravi Kishan wave,” she noted.
The reel features her reading out some of the iconic one-liners from the BJP politician, in a quiet monotone.
“Pehchaan or paisa? Pehchaan, money follows my brother” is one iconic line from one of his interviews,” she said, quoting the most viral reels.
“Hmmm you better do it,” and “Jaldi The Late,” are other notable memes that received a special mention.
Why Chaturvedi thinks Ravi Kishan went viral
Chaturvedi attributes the obsession of millions to the fact that virality cannot be manufactured.
“In a world full of scripted PR, his unfiltered, chaotic and extremely raw confidence is a total breath of fresh air,” she said. “And Instagram and the meme world is loving it.”
Even his own family is speechless, she said, while Kishan’s response to the internet frenzy remains characteristically casual: “I don’t do it; it just happens brother.”
She ends the reel by posing the same question to her audience — “What are you choosing, pehchaan or paise?” — and invites viewers to drop their favourite quote in the comments, while urging them to follow for more straight-talk reels capturing Gen Z meme culture.

The Reactions
Kishan has commented under the reel Chaturvedi posted, describing him as the “absolute king of Gen-Z meme culture: “Thank u so much Priyanka ji, speechless,” he wrote under the reel.
Other commenters are citing the reel as Chaturvedi’s attempt to warm up to the BJP, in hopes of switching to the party.
“Ready for BJP transfer,” wrote a user.
