New Delhi: Katrina Kaif has spoken about how pregnancy changed her skin, and what “looking her best” means to her now compared with when she first began modelling and acting.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India about Kay Beauty’s foray into skincare, Kaif said her skin became even more sensitive after pregnancy and that she had to reevaluate what suited it.
“Post-pregnancy, my skin became even more sensitive, so it was a really tricky time because I had to understand what products were working for me. I found myself looking for products that felt soothing, calming and restorative,” she said.
Kaif also spoke about how much her idea of looking good has changed since her early years in the industry.
“It’s changed a lot. When I started out early through my modelling and acting career, there were a lot of stereotypes about what the beauty standards were. Now for me, looking my best is really about feeling my best, and that comes from taking care of myself as a whole,” she said.
That means eating well, staying active, and meditating for the actor. She also keeps the first hour of her morning phone-free and gets natural light early in the day.
“It all makes a huge difference to how I feel, and ultimately how my skin behaves. I think when you feel healthy, that confidence naturally reflects on the outside,” she said.
Katrina bodyshamed
Kay Beauty, the makeup brand Kaif co-founded with Nykaa in 2019, is now entering skincare. Kaif said the skincare range had been in development for three years and that she had tested various formulations herself, including in the months after pregnancy, when her own skin was especially sensitive.
Kaif and actor Vicky Kaushal welcomed their son, Vihaan, in November 2025. Her comments come at a time when her postpartum appearance has been picked apart online. The couple posed for photographers at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai this week, after which Kaif was body-shamed over her weight. Fans pushed back, as did her co-star in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ali Zafar.
“What kind of mental issues do we men have?” he said, arguing that men assume they have the right to judge a woman’s body against standards they have created.
