Silicon Valley’s AI bros are paying escorts $6,000 per hour—for nerd talk

New Delhi: As major AI companies are locked in a race to Wall Street, their overnight-rich programmers are looking for comfort in a new class of courtesans. ‘Nerdy escorts’ are charging Silicon Valley’s AI millionaires up to $6,000 per hour—and $23,000 per day—for quality conversation on computers, artificial intelligence, and GPUs, a Forbes report said.

For Meida Marek—an online pseudonym—it started with a crisis of employment. Working as a fresher in finance, she wondered what would happen once AI takes over her job. That’s when she decided to pivot. She was smart, supportive, and loved talking about futurist topics. She turned these skills into a new career and earns $3,500 an hour today. She claims she is booked months in advance.

“I would call it a ‘nerd-first’ approach,” Aella, another escort and online personality, told Forbes.

Escorts on other platforms can charge a maximum rate of $1,000 per hour. But the women interviewed for the story reported rates between $3,500 and $6,000 per hour. Aella said she charges $6,000 per hour, while another escort named Ada Hopper said she charges $5,000.

The women write about a variety of topics on X. For Aella, this ranges from parenting to academia to even the UK’s recent demand for tech companies to stop children from taking or seeing naked pictures.

“Posting about AI works,” said Hopper, who also operated under a pseudonym. “You’ll have random Nvidia bros who are like, ‘What? You know what a GPU is? Oh my God, wow.’”

In a recent post on X, Hopper talked about how the Met Gala, culture, and tech companies relate to each other.

“It’s great that the Met Gala charity event raised 42 mil vs. 31 mil last year. It’s great that the wealth and billionaires of our generation are sponsoring museums and the arts. It’s also great that Tech is at events like this, because the arts will then influence (or at least be connected to) companies like Amazon/OpenAI,” she wrote.

‘The ultimate luxury’

Like courtesans of the medieval world, it’s not only beauty that matters here. It’s the skill and conversation.

“The girls who charge the highest rates are not the hottest girls,” Hopper said. “They’re the girls who are hot and smart.”

Marek said that most of the time, she is paid for playful conversation. According to escort Charlie Levine, the trend is a sign of what is to come.

“As AI becomes bigger, authentic human connection will become a rarity,” Levine said. “In the future, being able to afford human contact, and to afford settings where there is genuine human contact, will be the ultimate luxury.”
