New Delhi: Off Campus star Belmont Cameli’s girlfriend and TV writer, Raina Morris, called out fans of the show for messaging her family members. Morris didn’t mention what these messages contained.

On 14 July, she took to her Instagram Stories saying, “If you are a fan of my boyfriend: Yay! Please stop messaging my family members. They are so confused. Write in your diary and then go on a walk instead! Love u.”
The post quickly became a hot topic on Reddit.
“Hate that people are being so intrusive and messaging her family but also really love her vibe,” an individual wrote, reacting to the post.
Another said, “Why can’t people just watch a tv show and not be complete creeps about it?”
“I’m also genuinely baffled by these types of behaviors which somehow is getting worse every year I feel like….I’ve also had my hyperfixations and fan moments here and there my whole life and not ONCE I thought of trying to find people’s goddamn family and friends???Genuinely worrisome behavior and I wish all famous people the best lol,” read a comment.

Off Campus’ statement
Some fans gave a racial spin to the controversy. They wrote how other actors of Off Campus also have partners in real life, but Raina seems to be the only one on the receiving end of strange behavior.
“Everyone will be shocked to learn the other male leads have girlfriends too. Yet, somehow, it’s only the Black girlfriend who’s picked apart and harassed to this level. This is exactly why parts of the fandom celebrated an almost entirely white cast. It was never just about ‘book accuracy’,” a user wrote on the Reddit thread.
Morris also responded to reported racism with an edited screenshot from the sitcom Community in a separate post.
“I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at Dming my distant cousins,” she wrote.
This is not the first and only instance of harassment when it comes to Off Campus. Last month, Amazon Prime Video issued a warning to fans of the show through a statement, shared on their X account.
“The Off Campus community is built on a shared love of storytelling and on respect for the real people who bring it to life. We ask that everyone in this space extend that respect to our cast and the people in their lives. Accounts that engage in targeted harassment will be removed from following our accounts,” it read.
Off Campus, based on Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series, released on the platform in May this year. The shoot for the second season is underway.
