New Delhi: Nandita Sinha has come a long way from India’s traditional consumer-goods companies to the country’s leading e-commerce firms. And now, on 3 August, the former Myntra CEO will become the chief executive officer of Swiggy’s quick-commerce business Instamart, taking over from Amitesh Kumar Jha.
Swiggy announced the appointment of Sinha on Tuesday, amid rising competition in India’s quick-commerce sector. Instamart faces off against rival players including Blinkit, Zepto, Amazon, and Flipkart, which are also expanding their quick-commerce offerings, Reuters reported.
With over two decades of experience in the consumer goods and e-commerce space, Sinha has driven multiple consumer businesses at various companies. Besides Myntra, she has held leadership positions at Flipkart, Britannia Industries, and Hindustan Unilever.
In a statement, Sinha stated that she has always been inspired by the work done by Instamart.
“I have long admired what the team at Instamart has built. It’s a business with a strong customer-first culture, great talent and significant opportunities ahead. Instamart sits at the heart of how India shops for its everyday needs, and I look forward to working with our colleagues, partners and consumers to shape its next chapter of growth,” she said.
Sinha graduated in Ceramic Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, and went on to do an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. This helped her build a successful career spanning FMCG, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven retailing. She started her career at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) before becoming a product manager at Britannia Industries, and then starting MyBabyCart.com in 2012, an e-commerce start-up focused on baby and maternity care.
In 2013, Sinha joined Flipkart, where she spent several years, rising through the ranks to lead the customer, growth, media, engagement, and brand divisions. She was also involved in running the customer engagement and loyalty schemes on Flipkart’s annual sales festival, the Big Billion Days.
‘Internet leader’
Sinha joined Myntra in January 2022 as its CEO. During her tenure, the online fashion store has grown its beauty and fashion business and focused on technology and faster delivery. Reportedly during her tenure, Myntra launched several new services and products such as M-Express, FashionGPT, AI Stylist, and M-Now, among others.
However, in April 2026, she parted ways with Myntra as the Flipkart Group announced Sharon Pais as the new CEO of the fashion start-up.
Now at Instamart, Sinha will be tasked with leading the quick-commerce venture, with companies racing to open more dark-store warehouses across the country to provide faster delivery to customers.
Blinkit and Zepto are among the fierce competitors that Instamart faces as Amazon and Flipkart also enter the fast-commerce space.
Swiggy Group CEO Sriharsha Majety described Sinha as “one of India’s most accomplished consumer internet leaders”, adding that he is “enthusiastic about the vision, customer obsession and operational rigor she brings to the team we’ve built at Instamart.”
