New Delhi: American TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian is “lakemaxxing”. The socialite, who last appeared in Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair, posted photos from what appears to be a countryside vacation on X and Instagram.
The photos show Kardashian and Penelope Disick, daughter of Kourtney Kardashian, enjoying lakeboating. One of the photos shows Kardashian with a golden retriever puppy, reportedly belonging to her boyfriend and Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton. The dog is named Halo.
While comments on Instagram were full of adoration, many on X posted misogynistic slurs. American livestreamer Braden Eric Peters, known as Clavicular, responded to Kardashian’s post in a quote tweet.
“Lol,” Peter wrote.
The 20-year-old influencer popularised the term ‘looksmaxxing’ among boys and young men, a movement that uses measurements and ratios to achieve the perfect face. Replies to Peter’s posts were quick to remind him that he didn’t invent the concept of ‘maxxing’.
“I am a geriatric millennial and I heard ppl saying “maxxing” over 3 years ago. I do not use it myself. unless its ironic, but that’s neither here nor there. It has nothing to do with you, its cringe you try to pretend you invented it,” said a comment.
Energy drink
Kardashian recently launched an energy drink brand called Update, which is marketed as a caffeine-free beverage. It uses paraxanthine, a “clean” metabolic compound of caffeine. The entrepreneur posted a promotional video for the brand on 23 July, captioning it “THE FUTURE OF ENERGY”.
The video was full of gags and allusions to her personal brand. It opened with Kardashian taking off a pair of big sunglasses, only to reveal a thin pair of reading glasses underneath.
In a news-style section of the promo video, a headline read: “Update: Kim gets more work done.” It was a reference to a past controversy, where Kardashian advised women to work hard, adding that “nobody wants to work these days”. The comments drew instant backlash from working women.
In the video, a reporter asks Kardashian, “Why now?”
In a deadpan delivery, she replies, “Because caffeine wasn’t just working anymore. And working is my thing.”
Kardashian even addressed her failure to clear the Bar exam.
“I didn’t pass the Bar, I raised it.”
