New Delhi: Anne Hathaway has everyone talking about a Pakistani label’s black bag. She paired it with a Schiaparelli outfit, as she was out promoting The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The bag is from Lahore-based Pakistani brand Warp. Against a couture-heavy look, it held its own.
The brand, founded in 2016 by Hirra Babar, is a contemporary leather goods label built on local craftsmanship and modern design. ‘Warp’ which means ‘twist,’ is an ode to the core of a brand’s design ideas.
The bag carried by Hathaway, the Tobla, is described on the brand’s website as: “Born from the art of folding, the Tobla Bag catches light like a sequence of sculpted peaks, a study in rhythm, repetition, and restraint…” The design focuses on shape and structure, balancing softness with precision.
Part of Warp’s Sartorial Essentials collection, the Tobla is priced at $350, alongside other lines like the Crystal Petit Evening Edit ’25 and Hexella Classic Collection.
The pieces, as per the website, are handcrafted in Lahore using goat skin leather and plated hardware. Pakistan is one of the biggest exporters of leather, supplying premium materials to markets across Italy, Germany, France, and the UK.
The brand reinvents leather stitching techniques through special attention and systematic processes, elevating high-end leather accessories manufacturing at home. “I wanted to mobilize local resources. It was the driving force for Warp. I wanted my pieces to be made locally and sold globally,” Babar told Forbes in 2022.

Of leather and Pakistani bags
Warp’s growing global recognition reflects a broader cultural shift, with creative influence increasingly flowing from East to West.
Pakistan’s leather exports reached $1.2 billion in 2025 (according to the Pakistan Tanners Association), supplying premium goat skin to markets such as Italy, Germany, France, and the UK—an ecosystem that supports emerging brands like Warp.
Founded in Lahore in 2018 by cousins Zain Ahmad, Ismail Ahmad, and Adnan Ahmad, Rastah is another label that has carved out a distinct global identity. Its designs have been worn by a wide range of international figures, including Diljit Dosanjh, Barry Keoghan, Riz Ahmed, Zayn Malik, Iman Vellani, Justin Bieber, Karan Johar, French Montana, Timothée Chalamet, Anil Kapoor, and Harshvardhan Kapoor.
