(Reuters) – A disturbance 1,000 miles east of the Windward Islands has an 80% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Wednesday.

A tropical depression is likely to form during the next day or so, the forecaster said, adding that regardless of development, this system has the potential to bring gusty winds, heavy rainfall and flooding to portions of the Lesser Antilles beginning on Friday.
