New Delhi: India received two nominations at the 2026 International Emmy Awards Wednesday, with Vir Das’ comedy special Fool Volume and SonyLIV’s web series Real Kashmir Football Club earning recognition.
Real Kashmir Football Club received a nomination in the Drama Series category, while Vir Das’ special was nominated in the Comedy category, alongside División Palermo: Season 2, Man vs Baby and Old Dog, New Tricks. Das is the first Indian to get three international Emmy nominations.
Reacting to the nomination, Das, 47, tweeted: “A third International Emmy Nomination for India. This fool, thanks you from the bottom of his heart.”

Das’ first nomination came in 2021 for his Netflix special Vir Das: For India, while his second came in 2023 for Vir Das: Landing, which won the International Emmy for Comedy.

A Drama series nod
Real Kashmir Football Club premiered in December last year and is inspired by the real-life story of Real Kashmir FC, a professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir. The series stars Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and is directed by Mahesh Mathai and Rajesh Mapuskar.
Kaul shared an Instagram post announcing the nomination and wrote: “Bahut bahut bahut saari badhaai Team RKFC — Many many congratulations to Team RKFC.”
The show follows 22 underdog football players who aspire to build a professional football team in Kashmir. It has been nominated alongside A Thousand Blows (UK), Carême (France) and Menem: The President Show (Argentina) in the Drama Series category.
Real Kashmir Football Club was founded in 2016 by Shamim Meraj, an editor at Kashmir Monitor, and businessman Sandeep Chattoo, following the devastating floods of 2014. The club is nicknamed the Snow Leopards and competes in Indian football.
