New Delhi: From Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy (2004) to Christopher Nolan’s upcoming magnum opus, the story of Homer’s The Odyssey has been adapted for decades. Now, with advancements in technology, The Odyssey is getting an AI adaptation in Odysseus: The Fall Chronicles, created by Ash Koosha, co-founder of AI firm Studio Fountain.
The AI adaptation will focus on the emotional and spiritual journey of Odysseus. The film is set to premiere a month after the release of Nolan’s The Odyssey.
Koosha, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, said storytellers should not feel threatened by AI tools, adding that artificial intelligence is a threat only to the distance between the story and the person.
“A tool has never made a film worth watching; the person with the idea has made the film watchable,” he said. “More films will be made this way; that seems certain to me, the way it was once certain that anyone would be able to shoot on the camera in their pocket.”
Tom Rogers, the executive producer of the film, said that the company wants to provide a basis of comparison between an AI-generated film and one of Hollywood’s most revered directors, telling the same story in significantly different ways.
“So moviegoers might be curious enough to see both the films developed out of the same classic tale as a way to better understand the level at which AI is able to contribute already to the art of filmmaking and to increase the number of quality films that can be offered to the public,” he told Forbes in an interview.
While he added that the studio always wanted to democratise the process of filmmaking, the film was made over three months while he was working part-time. The film cost only the token credits required to use the AI model and has a runtime of almost 135 minutes.
“There are so very, very few who have access to the hundreds of millions of dollars needed to produce a movie through traditional means to tell a story as vast and difficult as one that does justice to the original Odyssey,” he added.

‘Powerful tool’
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan, in an interview, shared that AI can be a powerful tool in the future and that many people “disdain” technology like AI.
“But I think the idea that it replaces human beings wholesale and human creativity, to me, it’s nonsense,” the director said.
While India is also taking steps to reimagine historical tales, studios like Gallirie5 created India’s first AI-produced web series Mahabharat: Ek Dharmaayudh (2025) in partnership with Collective Media Network and JioStar. The series was released last year with 27 episodes, exploring different stories from the Mahabharata.
