Swara Bhaskar’s Jauhar remark returns to haunt Rise and Fall 2. Shehzad-Siwet fight turns ugly

The argument followed Tomar's interaction with Swara Bhasker, whose remark on Rajput women and jauhar last month had led him to say he would not speak to her.

New Delhi: A nasty fight broke out between Shehzad Poonawala and Siwet Tomar on Rise and Fall 2. At the heart of it all was Swara Bhaskar’s Jauhar remark last month.

Siwet Tomar, previously seen on reality shows like Roadies and Splitsvilla, was evicted from Rise & Fall Season 2 after his argument with Poonawala turned physical. Tomar grabbed Poonawalla by the neck and pushed him down, tearing his clothes in the scuffle.

What happened

The confrontation came during an Ultimate Ruler race, which would decide who gets the most power and remains safe. When asked to choose the weakest, several contestants, including Shehzad, chose Siwet, while only Karan Patel picked Shehzad.

After Siwet was eliminated from the race, he got one last chance to name a Ruler he considered weak. He chose Shehzad.

Things got worse when Tomar, who was previously seen in reality shows Roadies and Splitsvilla, was seen interacting with Swara Bhasker.

He had previously said he would not speak to Bhasker following her remarks on Rajput women and the practice of jauhar. Poonawalla questioned why Tomar had now changed his position.

The argument escalated when Tomar moved towards Poonawalla. Bhasker rushed over and tried to separate them.

“Siwet, don’t do that. Leave him,” she said.

Tomar then grabbed Poonawalla by the neck and pushed him down as the other contestants tried to pull them apart.

The aftermath

After the fight, Poonawalla showed his torn kurta to the camera and demanded to speak to the people running the show.

“I want to speak directly to the creative team, the head, the director, and the producer. I am willing to die for what I believe in. But after what happened to me today, if anyone in this house thinks this is acceptable, I want to speak to the head of the channel right now,” he said.

Turning to Tej Pratap Yadav, Poonawalla added, “Whatever my mistake may have been, I did not raise my hand at anyone. I used my words. I provoked him; he was provoking me, but do you accept what was done to me?”

Tomar was subsequently evicted from the show for getting physical. Bhasker and Karan Patel expressed dissatisfaction with the decision.

Following the incident, the BJP spokesperson’s team thanked fans for their “overwhelming support,” in a statement on X.

“He will rise again, every single day, stronger than before,” the statement read.

Rise & Fall Season 2, hosted by Virender Sehwag, premiered on 26 September and streams on Prime Video.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
