New Delhi: Rohit Shetty shared a 50-second clip teasing the much-awaited Golmaal 5 on social media on Thursday. The clip appears to be a nostalgic recreation of the iconic car chase scene from the first Golmaal: Fun Unlimited.
“Driving down the memory lane! How old were you when you watched the first Golmaal? We promise you’ll relive those happy days very soon…filming in progress,” wrote Shetty in an Instagram post.
In an iconic scene from Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), Madhav, played by Arshad Warsi and Laxman, played by Sharman Joshi, were seen waving at crowds while speeding ahead in a car, with Lakshman disguised as a woman. The scene, along with several others from the film, went on to become part of meme culture and helped the movie achieve its cult status among audiences.
“20 years and nothing has changed. Golmaal will keep entertaining you…” Arshad Warsi wrote, sharing the clip on social media.

The iconic duo returns
With the return of the original duo, the upcoming film is expected to play on nostalgia and take audiences down the memory lanes they associate with the humour and chemistry of early Golmaal films.
The film also marks the return of Sharman Joshi’s character to the Golmaal Franchise after 20 years. Joshi did not star in any of the previous Golmaal movies other than the first one. Sharing the same clip on social media, Joshi wrote,“Baap of all throwbacks.”
Over the years, the franchise has built a strong fan base for its humour, chaos, cast, and memorable one-liners like “Kal subah panvel nikalna hai”. The first Golmaal is remembered as one of the defining comedy films of Bollywood.
It was released in 2006, a year when Bollywood produced several star-studded comedies like Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Malamaal Weekly (2006) and Apna Sapna Money Money (2006). Several scenes, dialogues and characters from the film later found a second life on social media through memes and fan edits, helping the franchise stay relevant even amid the fast-paced internet culture.
The return of the iconic duo has particularly excited fans, as many viewers associate the success of the first Golmaal with the chemistry of Warsi and Joshi.
The comment section of Shetty’s post quickly filled with reactions from fans recalling their memories of the franchise.
“This scene unlocked so many childhood memories,” one user wrote, “Golmaal 1 was peak comedy,” another commented.
“I was only six years old and I loved all the sequels of Golmaal. Even today, these films feel timeless,” a third user recalled.
