New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra has opened up about her experience working with SS Rajamouli for her debut Telugu film Varanasi. Appearing on the Jonas Brothers podcast, the actor said she has been working on the project for 14 months now, adding that the director is known to “take that kind of time to make movies”.

Calling the film an epic adventure, Priyanka said the scale of the project is unlike anything she has worked on before, adding that Rajamouli’s vision requires time and patience to bring to life.

On the podcast, Priyanka also talked about RRR, revealing that she did not know about the film until Joe Jonas told her about it.

“There’s this Indian movie that came out, I saw it,” she recalled.

Priyanka added that she later watched the film and understood why it had become a global phenomenon, eventually leading her to collaborate with Rajamouli on Varanasi.

The film is set to release in April next year. The story spans from 512 CE to modern times, where Rudra, played by Mahesh Babu, is on a globe-trotting journey. As an asteroid named Shambhavi threatens life on Earth, his path intersects with cosmic cycles and mythology, linking the glacial Ross Ice Shelf, the African savannahs, and the ancient ghats of Varanasi.

While Priyanka’s character has not yet been revealed, she hinted that both her character and the film are action-packed.

“I do so many amazing slow-motion jumps and that’s all I can say,” she added.

Varanasi marks Priyanka’s first collaboration with SS Rajamouli and her first Telugu film. The film is mounted on a massive scale, making it one of the most anticipated Indian releases of next year.
