New Delhi: Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas will star alongside Oscar winner Russell Crowe in a sci-fi action thriller, Bluefly. Sharing the announcement, Chopra wrote on Instagram: “onto the next.”
The film is set in Africa’s Congo and is about a grieving UN translator pulled onto a black-ops mission to recover a downed aircraft that isn’t supposed to exist.
The film’s synopsis reads: “As a Special Operations team pushes upriver through militia-held territory, the recovery becomes a descent — and the closer they get to the craft, the clearer it becomes that they were never meant to bring it home.”
Bluefly is scheduled to begin shooting later this year in Australia’s Gold Coast.
Directed by Nimród Antal, Bluefly is written by David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank. It is produced by Michael Jefferson, David Frigerio, Deborah Glover, Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier, and Vanessa Yao Guo.
Highland Film Group will handle the film’s worldwide distribution and begin sales at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) market.
COO Delphine Perrier described Bluefly as a gripping thriller packed with unexpected twists and said the team is excited to present the project to buyers around the world.
“Bluefly is heart-pounding entertainment with a complex story full of unexpected twists. With Nimród Antal at the helm and our wonderful cast, we cannot wait to introduce this fantastic project to our global buyers,” she said in a statement.
Chopra was recently seen in and also produced The Bluff (2026) for Prime Video. She also starred in Heads of State (2025), an Emmy-nominated film that became Prime Video’s fourth most-watched movie.
Next, she will appear in S.S. Rajamouli’s action-adventure film Varanasi, slated for release in March 2027, and will also star alongside Orlando Bloom in the survival thriller Reset.
