New Delhi: Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has announced his autobiography titled Rahman: A Renaissance, which will be co-authored by Rupa Chakravarty.
Taking to X, the musician wrote, “A new chapter begins. Rupa Chakravarty and I come together as co-authors for Rahman: A Renaissance.”
The announcement was accompanied with a photograph, showing Rahman seated at a piano with Chakravarty standing beside him.

Rahman, 59, in the caption, said the book offers a “closer look” at his “music, ideas, challenges, influences and creative journey” that have shaped his world.
“More details will follow soon,” he added.
Rahman began his career in cinema working for multiple composers like Ilaiyaraaja. He made his full-fledged debut as a composer with Mani Ratnam’s Roja in 1992.
He went on to compose music for Bombay (1995), Dil Se (1998), Lagaan (2001), Rang De Basanti (2006), and Rockstar (2011). Rahman has won six National Film Awards for his music direction.
The composer has also received multiple international accolades. He brought home two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Globe Award for his work on Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
The publisher for the book has not been announced yet. Chakravarti, Rahman’s co-author, is a poet, writer, artist, singer and choreographer.
