New Delhi: After wearing the police uniform on the silver screen for decades, Ajay Devgn is set to host the true crime TV show Crime Patrol, replacing Anup Soni, who has narrated the stories for many seasons since 2010.
On Monday, Devgn posted a teaser of the new season, Crime Patrol 2026 – Crime Ka Current Season, on Instagram, announcing that now he will be seen hosting the show.
Several reports suggest that he has already shot 15 episodes of the new season.
Joining Devgn will be actor Rajesh Tailang, who will reportedly host additional episodes of the season.
Crime Patrol first premiered in 2003 on Sony TV. Created by Subramanian S Iyer, the show has completed nine seasons with nearly 2,100 episodes. The series presents dramatised versions of criminal cases, with the host suggesting measures to prevent crimes while encouraging viewers to stay alert.
While the first season of the show was a weekly programme hosted by Diwakar Pundir, who was later replaced by Shakti Anand, its popularity prompted Sony to bring it back in 2010 as a daily show, airing Monday to Thursday with Anup Soni and Sakshi Tanwar as hosts. However, the season failed to match the earlier TRPs. The next season was therefore reduced to a weekly format and eventually went off air due to low ratings. The fourth season began just months later in 2011 and regained both its popularity and TRP ratings, setting the show on the long-running path it maintained for years.
Anup Soni had been associated with many Crime Patrol episodes, but other actors such as Sakshi Tanwar, Sonali Kulkarni, Sanjeev Tyagi, Diwakar Pundir and Ashutosh Rana have also hosted the show.
The new Crime Patrol season will start on 31 August.
