New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a searing attack on the Congress after the NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar Friday. Calling the Congress “MMC” or “Muslim League-i, Mao-baadi Congress”, he said another split in the Congress was imminent if the party continued indulging in “negative politics”.
The Prime Minister, in his address to the party workers at the BJP headquarters, also vowed to end ‘jungle raj’ in West Bengal, in view of the 2026 assembly elections there.
“Today’s victory has energised the BJP’s cadre in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Assam, and West Bengal…. Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal. The victory in Bihar has paved the way for the BJP’s triumph in Bengal. I want to assure the people of West Bengal that with your support, the BJP will put an end to the Jungle Raj in the state, as well,” Modi said.
The PM further said that its INDIA bloc allies also realised that the Congress was “sinking everyone with their negative politics”.
“Congress is such a parasite that it wants to make its comeback by swallowing the vote bank of its allies. Therefore, its allies also need to be wary of Congress,” he said.
Claiming that when he spoke about ‘Jungle Raj’ and ‘Katta Sarkar’, the RJD raised no objections, PM Modi further attacked the Congress.
“…it unsettled the Congress. Today, I want to reiterate that ‘Katta Sarkar’ will never return to Bihar,” he said.
The PM said that he had, in the past, cautioned the allies of the Congress that the party would likely sink everyone in its “negative politics”.
“I wonder, Congress may divide further in the future. Its alliance parties have also understood that Congress is sinking everyone in its negative politics,” the PM said.
“Due to this, within the Congress as well, a separate faction is emerging that is uncomfortable with this negative politics…. I fear that there could be another major split in the Congress,” he said.

‘Results bolster public confidence in EC’
Continuing his attack, the PM said Congress’s political approach is founded on negativity.
“It focuses on raising objectionable slogans, disrupting parliamentary proceedings, attacking key institutions, casting doubt on electronic voting machines (EVMs), maligning the election commission, and promoting division, along lines of caste and religion. Congress lacks a constructive or forward-looking vision for the nation,” he added.
After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had not even once crossed the 100-seat figure in assembly elections in six states, PM Modi remarked.
“On this day, the number of our MLAs elected in just one election is more than what Congress could win in the previous 6 elections combined,” he said.
PM Modi also expressed his gratitude to the voters. That the people had been re-electing the BJP-led NDA government signified that a pro-people, pro-governance, and pro-development agenda had been established in India, he commented. “This represents a new foundation in Indian politics.”
The PM also praised the ECI for its role in conducting the elections, saying it is not just a victory for the NDA but a triumph for democracy itself.
“It has bolstered public confidence in the election commission,” Modi asserted, against the backdrop of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori (theft)’ allegations.
“Over the past few years, increased voter turnout, particularly among marginalised groups, has been a significant achievement for the election commission. This is the same Bihar, which was once plagued by Maoist insurgency, where voting in the Naxal-affected areas often concluded as early as 3 pm. However, in this election, people turned out to vote, with remarkable enthusiasm,” he said.
The Opposition had made ‘vote chori’ as well as the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ a major issue during the Bihar elections, and Modi said that the elections prove that the “country’s voters, especially our young voters, take the purification of the voter list very seriously”.
“Now, it becomes the responsibility of every party to activate their respective teams at the polling booths and join the work of purifying the voters’ list with enthusiasm, giving 100 percent contribution. And so, the voters’ list can be completely purified in other places, as well,” he declared.
Hailing the women and youth for their participation and role in Friday’s victory, PM Modi said, “Some political parties in Bihar introduced the ‘MY’ formula as a strategy for appeasement. However, this huge victory has redefined the ‘MY’ formula in a positive light, where it now represents ‘Mahila’ and ‘Youth’.”
