New Delhi, Jul 2 (PTI) The regional labour commissioner prevented a strike at Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank in Raipur by settling a dispute involving 2,610 employees, the Union labour ministry said on Thursday.

The dispute arose following a proposed one-day strike call on June 29, 2026, by the Chhattisgarh unit of the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees’ Association (AIRRBEA) over several long-pending demands.

The strike was withdrawn after a marathon conciliation process carried out by the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Raipur, involving the bank management and representatives of the employees’ unions.

A tripartite memorandum of settlement was executed under Section 53(3) of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, leading to the withdrawal of the proposed strike, the ministry said in a statement.

The timely intervention also averted an estimated one-day financial loss of Rs 1.29 crore that could have resulted from the proposed strike, the statement said, adding that the settlement is expected to benefit approximately 2,610 employees of Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank and has an estimated financial implication of Rs 15 crore.
