New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) Geospatial technology company Genesys International Corporation on Thursday said it has secured a Rs 283 crore World Bank-funded contract to develop a comprehensive Geographic Information System (GIS) 3D digital map platform for Ahmedabad.
Termed as one of India’s largest digital twin initiatives, the contract will play a key role in the Gujarat Resilient Cities Partnership programme and aim to “substantially strengthen” urban delivery and financial systems, the company said in a statement.
The project will cover approximately 625 square kilometres of Ahmedabad, digitally mapping the city’s land parcels, properties, roads, water networks, sewerage systems, stormwater drainage infrastructure, and other critical civic assets.
About 25 lakh properties will be surveyed, geocoded, and assigned unique digital identities to create a property-level spatial database for the city.
The project is expected to be completed over a period of two-and-a-half years, followed by five years of operation and maintenance.
“This project is not simply about a digital map; it is about building a high-precision digital representation of the city that brings together land, properties, roads, utilities and underground infrastructure on a common spatially intelligent platform.
“We see this as an important event towards building Spatial Intelligence for Indian cities, where accurate and continuously evolving geospatial data can enable governments to plan better, manage infrastructure more efficiently and respond to the needs of citizens with greater precision. This marks the beginning of the use of physical AI systems in urgent governance delivery,” Genesys International Chairman and Managing Director Sajid Malik said.
Under the project, the company will deploy its advanced sensors to create a high-accuracy digital representation of the city.
A key component involves surveying and mapping underground civic infrastructure, including water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, and cable networks, along with their location and depth, which will be integrated into the central GIS database. PTI ANK BAL
