New Delhi: The Indian Army is set to showcase its push for indigenisation on Kartavya Path on 26 January as the majority of the equipment expected to be displayed at the Republic Day parade is Indian-made, it is learnt.
Among the key highlights, much like previous Republic Day parades, will be the showcasing of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Akash short range surface-to-air missile system and Nag anti-tank guided missile.
In addition, the Army will also showcase the Pinaka rocket launcher, sources in the Army told ThePrint. The first lot of these systems was exported by India to Armenia in November 2024. The GRAD BM-21 Russian-origin rocket launcher will also be on display.
The Army will also showcase the battlefield surveillance system, a mobile automated surveillance system used to integrate inputs from all battlefield surveillance devices.
The Advanced Light Helicopter-Weapon Systems Integrated (ALH-WSI) and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) will also be part of the parade, sources said.
Among the Army tanks participating in the parade will be T-90, and BMP-2 and BMP-3. Light Specialist Vehicles, All-Terrain Vehicle, Specialist Mobility Vehicle and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles will also be on exhibit, besides the Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar.
Horses, motorcycle displays and a 10-metre short span bridge will also be seen.
All three armed forces participate in the Republic Day parade. The Indian Air Force and Navy have their respective tableaux. The Air Force is also represented by various aircraft flying over the Kartavya Path.
As reported by ThePrint earlier, the 2025 Republic Day parade is likely to host Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the chief guest.
The theme for the parade is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’. This year, 15 states and Union Territories will be showcasing their tableaux, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Apart from these, all states and UTs, irrespective of their selection for Kartavya Path, can display their tableaux during Bharat Parv at Red Fort from 26 to 31 January, 2025.
