It is good to know that DST will provide 200 crore for COVID-19 research. My only suggestion is to select projects purely based on competentance of the Redearcher. Many times in the selection of project Chairman or members of SERB committee will influence in the selection to favour their ot their friends candidates. The finding if goes to incompetent persons would result wastage of public money and manipulate to collect data and publish papers. These publications will be used only numbers for their promotions and returns to public.
It is a good decision by DST secretary to provide 200 crore rupees for research on coronovirus drugs development and production in India. My only concern is projects should be given to competent researchers only, but not influential researchers who will not delivery the desired results. This is my experiences since incompetent persons are in project selection and favour only who are nearer and dearer to them or their friends.
I hope now the government understands the importance of research and development. And increase the fund allocation.
