SC Friday held lawyer Prashant Bhushan guilty of contempt for a couple of tweets where he raised questions about the conduct of CJI Bobde, and some of his predecessors.
When told that other states had opened places of worship, the court added that if the situation improves, "this temple of justice will be the first to open its doors to the public".
The top court had earlier reserved its verdict after Bhushan defended his two allegedly contemptuous tweets saying they were against the personal conduct of judges, not judiciary.
