They were designed by the framers of the Constitution to protect the glory of the Republic but have ended up as the least respected and the most subversive institution. It’s time to revisit the relevance of the position of governor.

  1. Your team appears to be highly short sighted writing this article. They need to be educated to see long term strategic impact of things. If what you say is implemented you will need passport to visit other states 15 years down the line.

  2. Seeing the happenings, I strongly feel that the function of Governors is redundant. The elected body, that is assembly, is adequate. The present day governors act as though Central Govt is their boss and state assemblies are their servants. Abolish Governor positions.

  3. A king’s ransom in real estate is tied up in maintaining these gentlemen in British era splendour. The Malabar Hill Raj Bhavan has its own private beach. As far as the decay of institutions is concerned, more storied ones have fumbled and stumbled.
