It’s also important that PM Modi underlined building infrastructure that’s sustainable and doesn’t turn into a debt trap. He’s throwing the gauntlet at Xi Jinping. His BRI finally has a counter.

Not inviting opposition leaders from either House of Parliament to President’s banquet for G20 dignitaries is graceless. It paints a wrong picture of India as a fractured polity. G20 is an opportunity to showcase India’s democratic strength, not schism. It calls for statesmanship on PM Modi’s part, not partisan politics.
