The US-Iran ceasefire deal is less a peace agreement than a recognition of reality. After months of costly confrontation that caused economic upheaval, Washington needed stability, while Tehran needed breathing space, and markets needed certainty. The guns may have fallen silent but, given Israel’s dissatisfaction, nobody can predict how long.

  1. Really wish Indian diplomacy had contributed to this happy development. Consider India’s economic equities, dispersed throughout West Asia. How much the conflict has hurt our economy.
