It’s tragic that two of India’s seven Olympic medallists have led repeated protests demanding swift, credible action against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. He is accused of sexual harassment by seven wrestlers, including a minor. Committee-making will take us nowhere. Delhi Police must register FIR and start investigating immediately.

Punjab has no nostalgia for ‘main bhi Bhindranwale’ pretenders. But leadership vacuum needs filling

A tame surrender ended the crackdown on Amritpal Singh and his ‘movement’ uneventfully, without even a whimper. It’s a harsh lesson for any “main bhi Bhindranwale” pretenders going ahead. Punjab rejects nostalgia for that strife. Today’s political and moral leadership vacuum urgently needs filling. Future Amritpals will seek that space.

Sachin Tendulkar’s career is the story of modern Indian cricket. He was the first of a young team’s unsullied core that pulled the country out of its match-fixing mess and steered its rising international stature. When he played, India prayed.
