Doval–Wang Yi talks mark a tentative thaw, with both sides moving to ease border tensions and revive normalcy. But the onus is on Beijing: it was China’s movement that ruptured trust. Constitution Amendment Bill, providing for removal of PM/CM/Minister if they’re arrested or detained beyond a month, is mala fide. It’ll further weaponize investigative and law enforcement agencies against the Opposition. It’ll empower them to overturn people’s mandate. This proposed law is dangerous for democracy. Government must desist from pursuing it.
