To be negligent and commit a mistake is wrong. But to ignore and reject the negligence and repeatedly do the same is a SIN. And YES the Indian government has committed a sin. We have a Union Minister composing songs – ‘Go Corona Go’. A CM promoting Kumbh-mela saying ‘Ganga Maa will protect us’, another CM allowing it to be hosted and an ex-CM visiting the mela and coming back infected.

Also we have our ‘independent’ Election Commission with an 8 phased election conducted over a month. And then we have our PM and his deputy – organising grand rallies, thumping chest and taunting ‘Didiii, Oo Didiii!’.

And now, at this dire moment, still pushing to control the narrative via diplomats (Canberra incident), deleting tweets and posts about the ground realities, DD News being so Covid ‘positive’, etc.

But wait, are they not our representatives? Oh YES, they are! If not all, at least for the majority. Lets analyse whom they represent.

– People who feel so uncomfortable to put on a mask.

– People who are above science – trusting ‘Indian’ immunity and Go-mutra over vaccine shots.

– People who flout rules at the first opportunity – ‘Shaadi to ek hi baar hota he’.

– People who turned a blind eye to the Virus once the case load started decreasing last year.

– People who put Sahi Snan above the life of their near and dear ones.

– People who allowed incoming foreign travellers to skip mandatory quarantine for some money.

– People who don’t miss the opportunity to make money by counterfeited drugs, surcharging ambulances & oxygens, etc.

– People who never made Covid situation an election agenda until the 6th phase of poll was over in WB.

I am sure we all can keep on adding to the list.

Its true the Government has failed. But have we not as well? If ‘we the people’ don’t feel responsible for the current mess, then why should the Government. Ultimately its WE whom they represent. Let us all turn the wheels. Let us all start by acknowledging the mistakes we have done and responsibilities we have going forward. Or who knows how long the second wave continues or if there is a third one next year.
