Even USA had to fight for Independence. But now! It is a super power. Think, how much time it took. Japan was bombed during second world war. Germany after losing the second world war, Winston Churchill seems to have said: “There lies Germany, hungry and humiliated”. Think/ check how much time the above countries took to bounce back to be as on today ? How about India? Though it is an ancient and developed civilization it is said, India got independence in 1947? So, are we supposed to calculate form 1947!? How much time it will take for India to become a superpower like USA or as advanced as Japan and Germany or more powerful than now?
What delayed/delaying or what factors have hindered / are hindering India to emerge much more powerful? Different people may say differently. Here two opinions from authentic sources are quoted. Even long back, UN documents directly and/or indirectly quoted that: a) corruption and population are twin evils of democracy /developing countries. Corruption is AIDS of democracy. (Paradoxically, many do say that corruption is a necessarily evil in democracy!). b) Norman Borlaug, father of Green revolution and Nobel Peace prize winner in strong terms warned about population long back. His was like a Statutory warning for Green revolution. He said : “Most people still fail to comprehend the magnitude and menace of Population growth. “, “Since man is potentially a rational being……hope he will recognize the self-destructive course he steers along the road of irresponsible population growth …..” “ Population can undermine the success of food production / Green Revolution “ . : “Growing human population –a population monster”. Though Norman Borlaug was praising the success of Green Revolution he gave the above statutory warnings. These warnings apparently had no effect on India. In the past could we imagine that India will surpass China in population? Now it is a fact. But China is in an advantageous position because of social homogeneity while India’s social heterogeneity is tremendous. This heterogeneity is one of the reasons for increase in population also. Regarding the other vital comment made by UN documents one can google search for CPI (Corruption Perception Index) ranking of countries. After that some serious analysis and thinking is required /can be done. /
Whenever anyone including me gives a comment for some improvement, one may recollect the meaning given for the word “Zeal” in Devil’s dictionary. “Zeal== A certain nervous disorder afflicting the young and inexperienced”. Though I and so many others who have commented were/are not young and inexperienced we still keep giving comments/opinions. It is more a philosophy that drives one so. To tell in another way—Kya baat ? Tu Kaliyug me sat yug layega ? ( What Mr you want o bring Satyug in Kaliyug ?” . To tell yet in another way. Someone said: “A committee consist of members who individually cannot do anything but can collectively decide that nothing can be done” . So is the case. Single feedback may not serve anything but all feedbacks together reflect that nothing can be done/served! “ And yet it moves “ as Galileo Galilei said even after getting a severe trial; ! Similarly, people will continue to give feedbacks. / There is a fallacy in making claims in economy . Indian currency /ruoee is very weak compared USD, Euro and many other currencies. Economy cane be said to be really good if the value of Indian currency is strong. Professional economists should take up the steps in this direction. /
Spread the development. Presently all the focus is on urban areas , making the urban areas overpopulated, heavily polluted and forcing people to migrate to urban areas from all over the state and country. /.
Recently it has been reported that gold reserves were found in two states –Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. Such explorations should continue all over the country. Further, attempts be made to explore other economically important reserves like oil and natural gas and valuable minerals. /
This year in particular made the general public very much worried about rapid changes in natural environment not only in India but also in other countries. Heavy heat, Heavy rainfall and floods, earthquakes, landslides etc . All concerned should ponder seriously as to how these disasters can be predicted in advance, and how to prevent /drastically reduce the consequences of these disasters. / Glad that recently UNESCO had said “ No path to a better future without teachers. Teachers are the heartbeat of learning”. Governments should take these statements seriously. Mastery in the concerned subject should be the priority for students to go ahead.
