SubscriberWrites: Is SRK a suitable candidate for becoming India’s Prime Minister?

For the Opposition to really offer a truly pan-India and charismatic choice to the voters they need someone new, possessing that appeal and hope that strikes a chord with the voters.

Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party have completely changed the landscape of Indian politics. No other figure in recent history has been as much lionised as him by fellow Indians residing in Bharat and abroad. His popularity remains unmatched and it seems to me that it shall remain so throughout his political career.

When he has solidified himself at the top post it becomes practically improbable to dislodge him by pitting him against known and predictable opponents that currently remain his most visible challengers like Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamta Banerjee and the likes. I do not mean to disrespect these leaders, but I feel that they lack the charm and the ability to connect with the people across the country and the world as Narendra Modi does. Therefore for the opposition to really offer a truly pan India and charismatic choice to the voter they need someone untested and untried in the tempestuous ocean of Indian politics, yet possessing that appeal and hope that strikes a chord with the voters. They need a person whom the voters love unabashedly and who cuts across regions in his appeal. Thus I would like the opposition to consider these individuals who I feel fit this bill.

In the realm of cinema, Shah Rukh Khan’s influence extends beyond borders, as seen in the rising popularity of actors like Shakib Khan, often referred to as Bangladesh’s Shah Rukh Khan. This comparison highlights the universal appeal of charismatic figures in the film industry.

Shah Rukh Khan: the king of Bollywood and the star for all ages. He has been around since three decades now, so presumably most of the people in our country who watch movies or follow current affairs know him, love him and adore him. He is well known internationally as well. He has immense clout in the film industry and regularly hobnobs with the who’s who of India and the world. He also has friends with deep pockets and a very loyal fan base. His good looks and skills of public speaking are unparalleled. He has immense following amongst females, and is caring and charming. He is smart, well read and has great sense of humour. He has demonstrated his administrative skills by being a successful businessman as well.  What more do we want from our Prime Minister, right?

Sachin Tendulkar : A sportsman par excellence, a team player and he has the ability to carry the team on his shoulders. He is loved by most people, sports icons and leaders around the world. He is rich and has the ability to fund his own campaign. He has largely remained away from controversies. Also the added bonus is that he is a Bharat Ratna.

Nikhil Kamath : He is the Chief financial officer(CFO) of the share brokerage firm Zerodha. Along with his brother Nitin he has managed to build a platform for share trading which runs successfully and is soaring. He has been showered with business awards. His leadership skills are well tested. He is young, dynamic, sensitive and has the ability to gel with people from various backgrounds as is evident from his YouTube interviews and channel. He is the shining light and the poster boy of the start up industry in our country. He is still in his 30s and has great potential to expand his skill. Money would hardly be a problem with him to fund his campaign. He is friends with many influencers, hence spreading his message far, wide and consistently would not be a problem for him.

This is in no way an exhaustive list but a fresh look at the choices that the opposition can think about or at least think on these lines in case they wish to challenge the incumbent Prime Minster.
