India had the highest GDP in the world for a millennia, when India invented Chess! China then won the battle with Chinese Checkers from primarily cyberespionage and hardware manufacturing dominance, it’s time India win the war with 3D Chess, and AIOps Edge Computing!
In the past ten years, India’s IT sector has shown tremendous success in applications development bringing about tremendous change in the way that we live, work, conduct business and the ways industries are continuously reinventing themselves. However, on hardware infrastructure within the communications and media sectors, India has lagged behind China, Japan, S Korea, Europe, and the US, but now the industry will experience significant disruptions, from 5G/6G Edge Computing with Smart Cities, Smart Grids, Smart Campuses with newer innovations. Now these technologies will move to the “edge” as new forms of applications and media for people to communicate will occur. It’s time to innovate again and bring these to the home, enterprises, and villages.
Having personally worked in the TRex Building at Siemens Mobile, in Boca Raton Florida, as the former Chief Architect for 3G/4G, this building is significant as it is where the IBM PC was originally invented! The first real form of computing at the “Edge!”
INDUSTRY 4.0, with 5G and the future 6G has enhanced possibilities for digital transformation, but has increased needs of structural change, with newer processes, workflows, tools, and needs for newer AI-based Distributed Intelligence. Industry 4.0 combines and connects digital, physical and virtual technologies—artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, just-in-time manufacturing, robotics, hybrid edge cloud computing with virtualization, and much more —to drive more flexible, responsive, intelligent and interconnected enterprises capable of making more informed decisions, based on real-time analytics, leveraging newer AI/algorithms driving things with policy controls and newer governance models.
AI, Algorithms, and Decision-Tree automated tools are being deployed to perform:
- Autonomous Robotics
- AI-based controls
- Optimization platforms
- Behavioral Analytics
- Conversational AI Bots
So how do we get there ?
A Governance Model is needed to assess the AI/Algorithms/Decision-Trees for Ethical/Social/Legal Norms, for example, adherence to privacy rules like GDPR, adherence to laws against bias, or technical assessment of the quality of analytics being used, ideally with human over-ride capabilities. This can be part of an AIOps or MLOps strategy.
Over the next decade, continued advancements across the various domains of artificial intelligence (machine learning, deep learning, conversational AI), cost/performance improvements in AI computing, ubiquitous accessibility to AI capabilities through Artificial-Intelligence-as-a-Service (AIaaS) service delivery models, and emerging computer technologies such as quantum computing will make our digital infrastructures, devices and services smarter and contextually-aware.
Three convergence themes that I believe will shape the evolution of 5G/6G communications infrastructure over the next decade.
- Autonomous Hyperconverged Network – A self-organizing, self-healing and self-managing network that is able to dynamically and intelligently deploy, orchestrate and manage hyperconverged network and computing services everywhere.
- Trust Platform – An integrated, holistic security platform that enables new business, trust and transactional models that support emerging privacy regulations and laws. This platform will also empower consumers with control of their privacy through centralized and decentralized identity, policy and rights management as well as brokerage functions that are securely authenticated and provisioned.
- Cyberphysical Infrastructure – A new infrastructure that supports the interfaces and interactions between digital and physical entities (digital twins) that engage in and are part of the Internet of Everything. This infrastructure also provides a digital medium and contextual framework that enables the exchange of cyberphysical experiences

It’s time for the next Moonshot, in the areas of AI: Artificial Intelligence, ML: Machine Learning and Cybersecurity!
As India becomes a Superpower, it needs a combined AIOps and Cybersecurity Framework with 5G/6G Edge Computing to leapfrog the world!
