New Delhi: The UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced the appointment of Dominika Krois of Poland as his new Representative and Director of the United Nations Office in Belgrade. Krois succeeds Mari Yamashita of Japan, to whom the Secretary-General expressed gratitude for her service.
Krois will oversee the Office’s activities in support of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and will deal with regional developments of special relevance to the work of the United Nations and UNMIK, stated a press release from the UNHQ.
With a career spanning more than 25 years, Krois brings extensive experience in international diplomacy, peace and security to the position. Since 2019, she has been Poland’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Vienna.
